Even American blockbusters can’t fight against this summer camp for people with disabilities. This week in the box office, “Un p’tit truc en plus” topped the French rankings for the sixth consecutive week, attracting 815,000 additional spectators in theaters, and accumulating nearly 6.7 million admissions in total . This weekend, according to Artus on Instagram, the film exceeded the symbolic bar of 7 million spectators.

Better than “Avengers” and “Lord of the Rings”

Artus’ comedy can now boast of being one of the 100 greatest hits of French cinema… of all time. This “feel good” and family feature film, with a modest budget of 6.1 million euros, thus exceeds, among others, “Avengers: End Game” (2019) and the first part of the “Lord of the Rings” saga, released in 2001. Until then, these monsters of international cinema were ranked in 99th and 97th place respectively, accumulating more than 6.9 million admissions.

If the film continues at this pace, it will perhaps be able to approach “Qu’est-ce qu’on a fait au Bon Dieu?”, the last successful French comedy in theaters, which ranks 21st place in this top with its 12,366,033 tickets sold in 2014. However, it will take a lot of luck for Artus to hope to reach the height of “Bienvenue chez les Ch’tis” (2008) second after “Titanic” with its more than 20 million entries, or “Intouchables” (2011) which completes the podium with more than 19 million tickets sold.

The biggest success of 2024 on the big screen since its release on February 28, “A little thing in addition” has already grossed around $57 million worldwide, according to the specialist site ComScore. The film, which was released in several other French-speaking countries such as Belgium or the Quebec region, has occupied a place in the world’s top 10 for more than six weeks, competing with huge American blockbusters like “Furiosa” or “Bad Boys : Ride or die”, yet released on the big screen in more than 60 countries.
