the Marvel film has (again) lost its director and we wonder who still believes in it

After the departure of Bassam Tariq, it is the turn of Yann Demange to leave the production of the cursed Marvel film, Blade.

If Marvel and its MCU are still in the spotlight, we must still admit that the last few months/years haven’t been so easy. The year 2023 was notably marked by the catastrophic Ant-Man and the Wasp: Quantumania and by the huge flop of The Marvelsand it is now vital for the super-company (in the superhero sense obviously) to get back on track.

But while Deadpool 3 is already breaking box office records andAvengers 5 has perhaps finally found its director, yet another bad news risks putting (blessed) lead in the wing of Marvel and its president Kevin Feige. Indeed, we recently learned that the next film Blade had (again) lost its director, and we therefore wonder how this story will end.

Is it so hard to move on from Wesley Snipes?

Blade walks more than he runs

Everything finally seemed good for Blade. While its first director, Bassam Tariq, left the ship in 2022, the film had indeed found a new director in the person of Yann Demange (Undercover: A true story). Unfortunately for Marvel and as revealed The Wrapwe therefore learned that the Franco-Algerian director had in turn decided to leave the production.

The first three screenwriters of BladeMichael Starrbury, Nic Pizzolatto and Michael Green, had also decided to leave earlierleaving the writing reins to Eric Pearson (Thor: Ragnarok, Black Widow, Fantastic Four).

However, we had (and still have even if it seems complicated) quite a few expectations concerning Blade. The film about the vampire superhero had a rather impressive castnotably with Mahershala Ali (Green Book, Moonlight, House of Cards) to play the title role, as well as Mia Goth (the trilogy X by Ti West) and Delroy Lindo (Da 5 Bloods: Blood Brothers).

Also, Marvel explained that Blade would be rated R (the second MCU film with Deadpool 3 to be entitled to this classification). Enough to imagine combat sequences that are more bloody and violent than usual in the universe (and all the better given the character). Officially, Blade is still scheduled for November 5, 2025, but it would not be surprising if its release date was postponed. To be continued…
