Warner announces a film, and we wonder why

After Game of Thrones and its spin-offs on small screens, Warner plans to bring the franchise to the cinema.

We're not done eating dragon meat. Despite the conclusion of the series Game of Thrones in 2019 at the end of its eighth season, the franchise designed by George RR Martin is indeed alive and well. The series House of the Dragon was renewed for a third season, and a new spin-off series, titled A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms was announced.

A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms also delivered its very first teaser, which confirmed that the series will bring to the screen the first part of the cycle of Adventures of Dunk and the Egg by GRR Martin. But since it seems the public always wants more Targaryens, more Starks, and more blood and more morally wrong sex, Warner has announced that the saga will continue on the big screen.

Metaphor for Warner's appetite for the Game of Thrones saga

A Game of Thrones movie, because why not

The idea of adapting Game of Thrones at the cinema is not new. The creators of the original series, David Benioff and DB Weiss, had already considered closing the saga with a trilogy of films rather than with a final season in 2019, an idea that George RR Martin himself was in favor of.

In 2014, the author revealed that film concepts were being studied, but HBO then resisted, wishing to keep Game of Thrones as an exclusive series for the channel, and systematic cash flow.

Warner assessing the number of fans of the franchise

For the moment, no information has filtered regarding this future film. This one has no official title, and no name of director, screenwriter or actor is attached to it.

According to the information revealed by The Hollywood Reporterthis film could be part of a more global strategy of Warner for the saga Game of Throneswith series and films that would be interconnected, like what the firm is already doing with The Batman and the series The Penguinor with Dune et Dune : Prophecy. For the moment, the film project in the universe of Game of Thrones obviously has no release window.
