new trailer for the series in The Goonies mode, Skeleton Crew

The next series Star Wars, Skeleton Crew starring Jude Law, shows a little more in a new trailer.

Star Warsit’s not just the films celebrated in the cinema, or the recent series which brush (adult) fans in the wrong direction. It’s also the () films The Adventure of the Ewoks: The Caravan of Courage (1984) et The Battle of Endor (1985), animated series Droids: The Adventures of R2-D2 and C-3PO (1985) et Ewoks (1985), or even the essential and terrifying Star Wars Holiday Special (1978).

The saga imagined by George Lucas has been treating its youngest audience for a long time, and not just in the merchandising department. Disney continued this tradition with, for example, the series Star Wars: The Adventures of the Little Jedilaunched in 2023. But the next series Star Warstitled Skeleton Crewseems to have bigger ambitions.

On the one hand, it is aimed at a young audience since it is centered about the adventures of a group of childrenwith a tribute to the cult film The Goonies. On the other hand, she also wants to attract the adult audience since she is in live shooting, with a substantial budget and some big names in the credits (Jude Law in casting, Jon Watts as co-creator, David Lowery and the Daniels in direction).

Skeleton Crew is coming for Christmas, hoping bring the whole family together in front of the televisionas shown in the new trailer.

LES GOONIES x STAR WARS

Created by Jon Watts (director of the trilogy Spider-Man integrated into the MCU) and Christopher Ford (screenwriter of Spider-Man : Homecoming), and still with Dave Filoni and Jon Favreau as producers, Skeleton Crew will follow the adventures of four children, who make a incredible discovery on their little planet.

But after getting lost in the immensity of space, they will have to find their way in a world filled with dangers and fan service (a reference to The Adventure of the Ewoks: The Caravan of Courage has already been confirmed). Luckily, Jude Law appears to help them as the mysterious Force-wielding Jod Na Nawood. And there is also Nick Frost who lends his voice to a droid.

STAR WARS FOR CHILDREN, BUT NOT TOO MUCH

The story unfolds After Return of the Jedias The Mandalorianand the team boasts the light aspect of the thing, as co-creator Christopher Ford explained to Entertainment Weekly in June 2023:

“We wanted it to be a lot of fun. But of course, with adventure comes danger. And when children are in danger, it’s very tense. So we played with that, but above all we wanted it to be a fun adventure. »

However, no one wants a series reserved for children, even if the homage to Amblin (the production company founded by Steven Spielberg, Kathleen Kennedy and Frank Marshall, who notably produced The Goonies, Gremlins, The inner adventure et ET The Extra-Terrestrial) is fully claimed:

“When we told Kathleen Kennedy that we wanted to have the spirit of Amblin, which she has perfected over the years, she told us that she had never thought of it as films for children . It turns out they revolved around children, with the story of a child who has an adventure. So it could be for everyone. »

Disney has in any case seen the big picture behind the little heroes since the episodes of Skeleton Crew will be directed by Jon Watts (the Spider-Man with Tom Holland then), the Daniels (Everything Everywhere All At Once), David Lowery (A Ghost Story, The Green Knight), Bryce Dallas Howard (behind several episodes of The Mandalorian), Lee Isaac Chung (Twisters, to the pain), and Jake Schreier (Thunderbolts*).

Consisting of eight episodes, Skeleton Crew will arrive on Disney+ on December 3, 2024, with two episodes in one go for the launch.
