Have you never seen a movie with Jim Carrey? So why not start with the craziest comedy in his filmography, “Fous d’Irène”, directed by the priceless Farrelly brothers?

Some of you may have never seen a Jim Carrey film. There are probably not many of you, but if that is the case, then the author of these lines advises you to start with the most hit comedy of the elastic actor. We are not talking here about the excellent The Mask, Dumb and Dumber or Ace Ventura, but about the incredible Fous d’Irène.

Why highlight the completely crazy Fous d’Irène? Quite simply because it’s the film in which Jim Carrey (who debuted on screen with his buttocks exposed) undoubtedly delivers his craziest performance, that of a police officer suffering from personality disorders who forgets his medication when he was tasked with escorting a young woman to another state.

Released in theaters in 2000, Fous d’Irène therefore offers spectators two Jim Carrey for the price of one and suffice to say that it’s total madness, the Hollywood star giving the best of himself in front of the camera of the Farrelly brothers, with whom he had already filmed a few years previously for Dumb and Dumber.

Don’t shy away from your (guilty) pleasure!

Crazy for Irene, which pushes the limits of good taste, is a comedy that makes you laugh a lot (often fat) and which goes far, very far… It’s schooly, regressive, absurd, politically incorrect and it feels really good! The authors of Mary at all costs have created a hilarious, inventive and daring film, undoubtedly their most radical, and it would be a shame to ignore its (guilty) pleasure, especially when the comic machine, reeling off its gags, each one more enormous than the other others, is carried by a Jim Carrey totally unleashed.

“Brothers Farrelly explode taboos”says Renée Zellweger, the main actress of Crazy for Irene. “They put on the screen things in life that shame us or plunge us into mortal embarrassment. Confronted with this repressed, we can only burst into hysterical laughter.”

We bet that, just like Renée, you will laugh very hard in front of Crazy for Irene. And once the film has been watched, you will only want to watch the entire filmography of Jim Carreyone of the greatest contemporary comic actors…
