Saoirse Ronan may be a multi-Oscar winning actress, but there is one role that slipped through her fingers and that she never really digested: that of Luna Lovegood in the Harry Potter saga. During a recent appearance on Jimmy Kimmel Live!, the star of Lady Bird returned to this failed audition which haunted her for a long time.

“There are things you give up on and when they come out you say, ‘Oh my God, I made a mistake,'” Saoirse Ronan said. “But I think the one that has stuck in my mind over the years – I didn’t say no, I just didn’t get the part – is Luna Lovegood. I lost again. » The actress, who was only 13 years old at the time, knew that she was too young for the role, which was ultimately given to Evanna Lynch. And despite this failure, she still has good memories of her audition.

No need for magic tricks

“I was able to read a scene that was going to be in Harry Potter and it was the coolest thing ever,” Saoirse Ronan recalled. A magical experience, therefore, even if she was unable to set foot in Hogwarts!

Fortunately, the career of the Irish actress did not suffer too much from this setback, since she has no less than four Oscar nominations to her credit. And who knows, maybe his role in the drama The Outrunnominated for the Oscars, will finally allow him to win the precious statuette.
