Everything Everywhere All At Once

If there is one film that has been both welcomed as a true UFO of cinema and as an absolute masterpiece in recent years, it is Everything Everywhere All At Once. Directed and written by the Daniels (Daniel Kwan and Daniel Scheinert), this science fiction comedy-drama released in 2022 is difficult to describe because it is so original. It is carried by a superb cast composed among others of Michelle Yeoh, Ke Huy Quan, Stephanie Hsu and Jamie Lee Curtis, and tells the adventures of an American woman of Chinese origin propelled into the multiverse to save what is important to her . Upon its release, Everything Everywhere All At Once was noted for its originality, direction and acting, and the film’s success continued until the Oscars where it received no less than 7 awards out of the 11 for which he was competing, making him the most awarded of the evening. Among them, we find some of the most prestigious statuettes such as those for best director, best original screenplay and best film, without forgetting that for best actress and best supporting actors and actresses. In short, if you haven’t seen it yet, now is the time to go to Netflix to catch up from October 1st.

The Addams Family and Addams Family Values

Among Netflix’s most popular original series, we certainly find Wednesday. Released in 2022, the first season convinced a lot of subscribers, so much so that the second season is extremely anticipated. But the SVOD service, would Jenna Ortega and Tim Burton have had such success without the two films from the 1990s from which they draw their characters? Not so sure. If you are too young to have seen them, good news, The Addams Family and its sequel Addams Family Values are coming to Netflix on October 8! The opportunity to discover two absolutely legendary comedies which are likely to please all those who loved the series or even those who were very disappointed by the latter. Plus, unlike most films of this genre, even the sequel is excellent! Two perfect feature films to accompany you during the month of Halloween, even if they are released several weeks before.

Goodbye up there and goodbye idiots

In addition to the comedies and dramas that the French are used to seeing at the cinema, French cinema is also known for its few directors with a well-defined touch. Among them, we find Albert Dupontel who has always stood out thanks to his particular humor and his original films. This month, you will be able to discover not one, but two of his latest films, and suffice to say that they are among the best in his filmography. The first, Goodbye up therewas released in 2017 and is an adaptation of the novel by Pierre Lemaitre. The second, Goodbye idiotswas released in 2020 and was awarded seven Césars including best film, best direction and best screenplay. Personally, I would especially tend to recommend Adieu les idiots, particularly for the excellent performance of its lead actress Virginie Efira in addition to its touching and well-written script. To discover them on Netflix, you will have to wait until October 15 for Goodbye there and October 22 for Goodbye idiots.

Werewolves

If there’s one film that Netflix seems to be banking on (perhaps a little too much) this October, it’s good Werewolves. If you haven’t seen the information, it’s a comedy directed by François Uzan which takes place in the world of the board game Les Loups-Garous de Thiercelieux. Very popular with all those who like to play a role and unmask liars, the game’s principle is to make its players talk so that innocent people can find those who, among them, are in fact werewolves who are trying to kill them. eliminate each turn. In a great Jumanji-esque tradition, the Werewolves film offers spectators the opportunity to discover a completely normal contemporary family who will be absorbed into the medieval world of the game and who will have to flush out the werewolves in order to return home. . The cast includes Franck Dubosc, Suzanne Clément, Jean Reno, Jonathan Lambert, Grégory Fitoussi, Bruno Gouery, Lisa Do Couto Teixeira and Raphaël Romand. Whether you are curious or honestly interested, you will be able to discover the result from October 23 on Netflix.

The Translators

It may have gone a little unnoticed when it was released in cinemas in 2019, but it is certainly one of the best French films of recent years: The Translators arrives on Netflix from October 29. Directed by Régis Roinsard, it is a thriller which begins at the time of the release of the third volume of a literary series with global success. Just before the publication of the book, nine translators are selected to work in absolute secrecy on the translation of the French text into their respective languages ranging from English to Italian via German, Russian, Portuguese, Danish, Mandarin, Spanish and Greek. If French comedies would surely have taken this synopsis and turned it into a series of half-racist clichés, Roinsard’s film offers a breathtaking thriller by locking all these beautiful people in a bunker until the work is finished, in order to ‘avoid any possible leak of the book’s storyline. Obviously, even the bunker will not be secure enough to prevent the inevitable, since a hacker manages to reveal the first 10 pages three weeks after the start of the operation. The goal is then to find who among the translators is the traitor, and especially how he managed to get the information out. Among the film’s best-known actors, we find Lambert Wilson in the role of the editor and Alex Lawther in that of the English translator. If you haven’t yet seen The Translators, we advise you to do so when it arrives on Netflix on October 29.
