Venom 3 is on track to break box office records, and we’re getting the world we deserve

With Venom : The Last DanceTom Hardy’s anti-hero could well break the box office records of his predecessors according to estimates.

How not to wait impatiently for the third part of the saga Venom from Sony? A morbid impatience certainly, like a desire to go see a train derail, while telling ourselves that in any case, we are powerless, so we might as well see how far the catastrophe can go. After a completely crazy first trailer, Venom : The Last Dance introduced its new symbiote, when the only thing we really want to know is if Venom 3 will introduce Spider-Man into the Sony universe for good or not.

This volume 3 will be directed by Kelly Marcel, for whom it will be her first film production, after having worked as a screenwriter and producer on Venom et Let There Be Carnage. The Last Dance should put an end to the saga with Tom Hardy, and for his last stand, Venom 3 should achieve very good scores in American theaters.

According to Box-Office Proforecasts for The Last Dance predict that Kelly Marcel’s film could gross $80 million to $120 million in its opening weekend. For comparison, the first Venom had produced 856 million dollars in revenue for a budget of 100 million. The film grossed $213.5 million at the domestic box office, and $642.5 million worldwide.

In the suite, Let There Be Carnagewith a budget of $110 million, only grossed $506 million at the box office, including $213.5 million at the domestic box office, and $293 million internationally. Domestic box office for films Venom therefore seems very stable.

If, as expected, The Last Dance reached $120 million during its launch weekend, the film could surpass the scores established by the two previous opuses on North American territory. This could augur a real public success for the film in theaters, at least at the domestic box office, because screenings are targeting revenues of $250 to $300 million in the United States.

Venom, Sony’s crazy horse

Internationally, the situation may be very different, since Venom 2 scored half as much as the first film, going from $642.5 million to $293 million. A sign of public fed-up, or awareness of being dealing with a failure, difficult to say. If the decline is confirmed, Venom 3 may not be the huge success that the Sony-Spider-Verse expects. It must be said that the other films in this Spider-Verse have all wallowed at the box office.

In total, Morbius grossed $167 million ($73.8 million domestic and $93.5 international) after a $39 million start. Madame Web grossed $100 million ($43.8 million domestically, $56.6 million rest of the world) after a $15.3 million start. Two critical and public disasters, which must have put serious obstacles in the way of the Spider-Verse, and pushed Sony to bet even more heavily on The Last Dance.

It really feels like (no)

And Venom : The Last Dance should be Tom Hardy’s last dance with his symbiote, many clues suggest that it could well be that the film could mark the arrival of the symbiote within the MCU. Theories are rife regarding the appearance of a Spider-Man specific to the Sony Spider-Verse, or concerning the possibility that the Tom Holland of the MCU could don the costume of the black symbiote during his next appearance in the cinema.

Fantasy or reality, we will have to wait until Venom : The Last Dance arrives in French cinemas on October 23, 2024 for the first elements of response (probably in a post-credits scene, we begin to know the song).
