This is a strong and important figure revealed after the end of the 2024 season in MotoGP, Moto2 and Moto3. So, while the drivers have now been on vacation for a few weeks, assessments are made for the 2024 season and we learn that 865 falls were recorded in the three categories. A figure which is down by 144 units compared to last year. This is the lowest figure since 2020, a season which included 15 events (14 in MotoGP only) compared to 20 in 2024. Suffice it to say that the riders were rather skillful and careful throughout the 2024 season.
A falling figure
Pedro Acosta is the one who has ended up on the ground the most, with no less than 28 falls ahead of the Marquez brothers, Marc (24) and Alex (21). Jack Miller (20) follows in fourth place. Fabio Quartararo has suffered few crashes this season, finding himself at the bottom of the ranking of drivers who have been on the ground the most. Of the 18 circuits on the calendar (Misano and Barcelona having hosted two meetings), Jerez is the track which recorded the most crashes, with 74 falls ahead of Mandalika (67) and Phillip Island (64). At the top of the hierarchy last year, the Bugatti Le Mans circuit occupies fourth position with 57 falls (compared to 79 in 2023). We hope that this figure will continue to fall next year, although some falls have been spectacular.
