Adrián Huertas makes a surprising move in 2025, moving from the Supersport World Championship to the Moto2 World Championship. The typical route for a Supersport champion is to move up to the Superbike World Championship, but that is not the case here.
The Spanish rider stressed to the Motosan.es website that his ultimate goal is to enter MotoGP in the future, and he sees this as the ideal step: 'What I really want is to reach MotoGP, and I think Moto2 is the best path to get there’.
Huertas revealed there was no shortage of offers from WSBK: 'There was a time when it seemed like a move to Superbikes was a certainty. I was close to joining this championship; I even received other offers, but the truth is that I didn't feel ready to wait any longer’.
His background is unusual, and financial constraints played a role, as he admitted: 'I don't come from a family with great resources. If I had money I probably would have reached Moto3 sooner, but I am very proud of what I achieved through effort and hard work’.
