Failing to dominate the world championship of MotoGP drivers, our tricolors are at the top of the ranking, purely honorary, of Japanese drivers! And race after race, the two men continue to increase this gap on their pursuers. Also, after the 2024 Malaysian Grand Prix, Fabio Quartararo's sixth place and Johann Zarco's eleventh place consolidated their positions in this hierarchy.

MotoGP: Quartararo already crowned!

Concerning the Yamaha rider, with 108 units, he is already assured of finishing at the top of the ranking. On the other hand, mathematically, Johann Zarco can always be overwhelmed by Alex Rins (Yamaha). However, for such a thing to happen, the Spaniard would have to achieve podiums during the last round, in Barcelona. Suffice it to say that he should stay behind and perhaps even lose a place.

Indeed, Takaaki Nakagami is tied on points with Alex Rins, something which promises an interesting final battle in a week. For their part, Joan Mir and Luca Marini, with 21 points and 14 points, respectively, can also claim better. But again, something unusual would have to happen, to score very big points. Here is the complete ranking, before the Catalan event.

  1. Fabio Quartararo (Yamaha): 108 points
  2. Johann Zarco (Honda): 53 points
  3. Alex Rins (Yamaha) : 31 points
  4. Takaaki Nakagami (Honda) : 31 points
  5. Joan Mir (Honda): 21 points
  6. Luca Marini (Honda) : 14 points
