Enea Bastianini explodes track record, test ranking

Before finishing this first day of driving on the Mandalika track, the drivers have just completed the test session, one of the most important of the weekend. Only the first ten times are selected to participate in tomorrow’s Q2. During the first quarter of this timed session, Pedro Acosta was the fastest, setting a time of 1:30:700. But the Spaniard made a mistake in the first corner, losing the front of his bike when braking. At the start of the last thirty minutes, the Mazarron shark took back control, improving his own mark by three tenths, just ahead of his compatriot Marc Marquez.

At the end of these sixty minutes of work, it was finally Enea Bastianini who showed himself the strongest by setting the track record in 1:29:630, three and a half tenths faster than the previous one, set by Luca Marini in 2023. Just behind the Italian, the two Ducati Pramacs of Jorge Maritn and Franco Morbidelli joined him, in second and third place. For our French, Fabio Quartararo managed to get his ticket for Q2 by finishing in sixth position, unlike Johann Zarco who failed to finish in the top ten. The native crossed the finish line with the eleventh time.
