Kylian Mbappe’s €55 Million Claim Against PSG Moves to Appeal Court Next Week

Kylian Mbappe’s intense legal showdown with Saint-Germain (PSG) regarding a staggering €55 million in unpaid wages is set to continue in the Court of Appeals of the Professional Football League on Tuesday.

Following a previous meeting on September 11, where Mbappe rejected the French Football League’s (LFP) proposal for mediation, the stage is set for the next chapter in this high-stakes dispute. The conflict revolves around unpaid wages and bonuses owed to the French international, which many reports suggest may not advance significantly and could ultimately be escalated to the Ordinary Courts of Justice, specifically the Prud’hommes Tribunal – the entity responsible for adjudicating labor disputes in .

At the heart of the matter is an alleged €55 million that PSG owes Mbappe, accumulated from the final three months of his contract (April, May, and June) and an ‘ethical bonus’ associated with that period. This also includes the last portion of a €36 million signing bonus that was due to Mbappe in February. Notably, PSG was formally notified by Mbappe’s representatives in mid-June.

Further investigation reveals that the player lodged a complaint with the LFP’s legal committee, invoking article 259 of France’s professional football charter, which mandates that clubs must disburse wages to contracted players by the last day of each month at the latest. In accordance with procedural requirements, this matter has also been forwarded to UEFA through the French Football Federation (FFF).

Since his departure from PSG after a noteworthy seven-year spell, during which he became the team’s all-time top scorer, Mbappe has moved to Real Madrid. However, his exit was marred by controversy, including reports of a heated argument involving PSG president Nasser Al-Khelaifi and Mbappe.
