Adin Ross claims Kick will introduce a way for viewers to get real-life money for watching streams

Streaming platform Kick emerged in 2022 as a competitor to Twitch, promising streamers relaxed guidelines and a larger portion of subscription fees. Over the years, the former has stood out for its alleged wild-west-like content, producing some controversial figures in the streaming world. In 2023, following his ban from Twitch, Adin Ross switched over to Kick. Today, he boasts over a million followers.

Adin has a close relationship with Kick, owning equity in the company. He also maintains close ties with the founder of the platform, Ed Craven. Thus, he occasionally tends to have insider information.

In an October 14 stream, Adin spoke about a potential way for Kick viewers to make money while they consume content.

Adin revealed the project, named “Kick Currency,” alongside his close associate and fellow streamer, Steven “Konvy” Garcia:

“They want to come out with the ‘Kick Currency’ that I told you guys about… where basically, your viewers get paid to watch you and sh*t now. (‘What?!’, said Konvy) It’s kinda like Bits, but you can cash out. It’s really cool actually. (‘If that actually happens, it’s going to take over.’, remarked Konvy) I mean not every viewer’s going to get paid to watch… for example, I can give you a ‘Kick’ and you can cash out.”

Adin compared the concept of Kick Currency to that of convertible Twitch Bits, which are a form of virtual currency that viewers on Twitch can purchase and use to support their favorite streamers.

This initiative is designed to differentiate Kick from competitors like Twitch by adding a direct incentive for viewers to remain engaged. Adin Ross, a prominent figure on the platform, has mentioned that not every viewer would automatically earn money: rather, streamers will decide how to distribute the Kick Currency.

This feature is part of Kick’s broader strategy to grow its user base and compete in the live-streaming market, targeting both content creators and their communities.

In other news, Adin Ross has offered a viral figure known as Lieutenant Dan a $100,000 boat and a streaming contract with Kick amid the ongoing impact of Hurricane Milton in Florida.
