Britain’s plans to prepare King Charles’ funeral before his death topped the media scene in the United Kingdom and the world, especially during the past few days, after British newspapers revealed details and secrets related to those plans that were said to have led to the division of the royal family.
Concerns about preparing King Charles’ funeral
According to what was reported in the American newspaper “The Daily Beast”, after the king was diagnosed with cancer, a number of plans were made for what would happen when he finally died. Tom Sykes, a royal commentator in the American newspaper, said that the British plans had witnessed a lot of tension at Buckingham Palace, as many feared the idea of King William after the departure of Charles III.
On the sidelines of the preparations for King Charles’ funeral, the American newspaper pointed out that the relationship between Charles and William had changed since the king’s diagnosis, with reports that executive power and influence had begun to go to William.
Will Harry return to the palace?
Sykes adds that there may be special problems for the Duke of Sussex, as Harry is more likely to be able to make a deal with King Charles than with King William if he decides he wants to return.
Last April, news broke that the Royal Palace had dusted off plans for King Charles’ final funeral (dubbed Operation Menai Bridge) amid growing concerns about his health, and the prospect of Prince William being crowned king earlier than expected seemed to have everyone worried.
In an article, The Daily Beast claimed that planning for Prince William’s eventual reign as King William V has begun in earnest – even as King Charles appears to be in relatively good shape.
The prospect of William taking the throne seemed to have everyone feeling nervous, and there were reportedly moments this year when members of the royal court, family and royal aides felt a wave of dread and uncertainty about what was happening amid Charles’s health crisis.
Members of the royal court and aides in particular are said to be concerned about their future once William becomes king.
As for the royal family, Prince Harry is still out of the picture and there doesn’t seem to be a way back once his brother becomes king. He also claims that King Charles’ eventual death will greatly impact Queen Camilla, whom Prince William tolerated but “never loved.”
