Bournemouth’s record signing, Evanilson, scored his first goal for the club in their 3-1 victory over Southampton on Monday. The Brazilian striker ignited a flurry of goals from the Cherries within the first 39 minutes, with Dango Ouattara and Antoine Semenyo also finding the back of the net.

Southampton’s Taylor Harwood-Bellis pulled one back early in the second half, but the Saints remain in the bottom three, still winless since their return to the Premier League. In contrast, Bournemouth’s second win of the season lifts them above Manchester United into 11th place.

Evanilson, who was signed to replace Dominic Solanke after his departure to Tottenham for a club-record fee last month, had a shaky start, missing a penalty in Bournemouth’s previous home defeat to Chelsea. However, the £40 million striker redeemed himself by slotting home Marcus Tavernier’s quick free-kick after 17 minutes.

Ouattara then helped double the lead by deflecting Lewis Cook’s shot past Aaron Ramsdale, while Semenyo continued his impressive form, netting his third goal in six Premier League appearances with a fierce drive into the bottom corner.

Southampton, despite dominating possession, struggled to convert their control into goals. Russell Martin’s side remains second from the bottom with just one point from six matches. Their struggles mirror those of other newly promoted sides, with Ipswich and Leicester also winless but currently outside the relegation zone.
