Néstor Lorenzo spoke at a press conference after Colombia’s 2-1 victory over Argentina in Barranquilla and He referred to the play that angered the world champion: the penalty that was called for a foul on Daniel Muñoz.

The Tricolor coach gave his point of view on the action that led to the 2-1. Muñoz was brought down in the area by Otamendi, but he was not sanctioned in the first instance.

Judge Maza had to resort to VAR to review the action and rectify his decision, in the first instance, not to whistle the maximum penalty. Finally, he gave the possibility of goal to Colombia and James did not fail, deceiving the Dibu Martínez.

With the final result on the scoreboard, Lorenzo analyzed this action and was forceful. “I thought it was a penalty both in person, on the pitch, and now. They took it away when Dani (Muñoz) hooked it, touched it low. These are interpretations”he commented.

With this victory, Colombia reached 16 points and is getting closer to qualifying for the 2026 World Cup.
