► Gaza: Civil Defense announces the death of seven children from the same family
The Civil Defense of the Gaza Strip announced Friday, December 20 that ten people from the same family, including seven children and a woman, had been killed in an Israeli strike on a house in Jabalia, in the north of the Palestinian territory.
“A massacre by the (Israeli) occupation left ten martyrs among the Khalla family, targeted by an airstrike on their home in Jabalia”indicated Civil Defense spokesperson Mahmoud Bassal. “All the martyrs are from the same family, including seven children, the oldest aged six, and a woman, in addition to 15 injured”he clarified.
► Sweden reduces its aid to UNRWA
The Swedish government has announced that it is reducing its aid to the United Nations agency for Palestinian refugees (UNRWA), after the passing of Israeli laws banning its activities in Israel and East Jerusalem.
At the same time, Stockholm said in a statement that it would almost double its aid to Gaza, bringing it to 800 million crowns (70 million euros).
Israeli lawmakers passed laws banning UNRWA from operating in Israel and East Jerusalem, while considering similar measures against other humanitarian organizations.
“The two Knesset decisions, which Sweden has criticized, will make many UNRWA activities more difficult, if not impossible”wrote on X Benjamin Dousa, the Swedish minister for international development cooperation.
► West Bank: Israelis suspected of burning down a mosque
The Palestinian Authority has accused Israeli settlers of setting fire to a mosque in a village in the occupied West Bank, an incident into which Israeli police say they have opened an investigation.
The Palestinian Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Expatriates condemned in a statement “the actions of a group of settlers who, early Friday morning, set fire to a mosque in Marda”.
“Racist anti-Arab slogans” were also tagged on the walls of the building, he denounced, including “Death to the Arabs”according to photos shared on social networks.
► Israel accused of indiscriminately shooting civilians
The Israeli army claimed to only attack “military targets” following the publication of an investigation by the Israeli daily Haaretz accusing him of indiscriminately shooting civilians in a controversial area of the Gaza Strip.
