“It’s complex”: which of the trio Ferrari, Lecaplain, Tsamère is the most complicated on vacation?

On the occasion of their return to the stage with “The trio tour”, the three comedians share their method for writing with six hands… and above all for not killing each other on vacation.

RTL info: Arnaud Tsamère, Baptiste Lecaplain and Jérémy Ferrari, you have come to present your new show to us, entitled La Tournée du Trio. Arnaud, you have been entrusted with the task of pitching the show. What can you tell us about it?

Arnaud Tsamère: Well, we have planned something which, a priori, is not going to go very well, probably because of me. But we will find a solution that Baptiste will accept immediately, because he is fantastic, and that Jérémy will take a little longer to validate… but he will end up accepting, because he is the one who manages the finances. More seriously, we can't really pitch the show, because it is based on an accident. And if we reveal this accident, we risk no longer selling tickets: spectators will no longer want to come.

Jérémy Ferrari: In fact, it's very complicated, because we made an “anti-pitch”. So asking Arnaud to pitch a show that relies on an anti-pitch was already difficult. And there, we have to pitch this anti-pitch… In short, we are embarking on a story that is impossible to summarize.

RTL info: You will be on stage in less than a month. Is the show ready?

Arnaud Tsamère: Yes, seriously, the show is written. Not only is it ready, but we can also tell those who listen to us that there will be real added value compared to the sketches they know from us on . Of course, we kept this slightly crazy ingredient where things go in all directions, but we added a narrative arch, a real story.

RTL info: You already appeared on stage together in 2013. What motivated you to do that again?

Jérémy Ferrari: Ten years ago, the trio's first tour was an initiative of our former joint producers. They thought it would be fun to get us together so we could each play a part of our show. So it was a compilation: 45 minutes of my show, 45 minutes of Arnaud, 45 minutes of Baptiste. This time, we wanted something completely new: two whole hours written together.

Baptiste Lecaplain : What linked us already at the time were the inter-skits. We had great fun writing mini-sketches and even filming humorous videos. That was where the magic really happened, and we wanted to recreate that. We actually did it again for Duos Impossibles. And the first time we got together for this, it was in Brussels.

Jérémy Ferrari: Yes, we did sketches or presentations together, but we were always a little frustrated. Presenting is good, but it lasts five minutes. We wanted to know what it would be like if the three of us completely let go for two hours.

RTL info: How did the three of you work to build this show?

Jérémy Ferrari: Each valve is validated by all three. Many of Arnaud's proposals are refused (laughs), Baptiste's are often accepted, and I mainly take care of the structure of the show. What obsesses me is that there is substance, meaning, and a story that makes the two hours flow smoothly for the audience.

RTL info: Everyone has a well-defined role in writing?

Arnaud Tsamère: Yes, naturally. I act as a scriptwriter: I type on the computer. Jérémy likes to structure the story, Baptiste focuses on the jokes, and I add my two cents in the middle of it all.

Baptiste Lecaplain : We really complement each other. Even if it's hierarchical like that, we are each other's clients. What's enjoyable is locking yourself in a room, making each other laugh, and knowing that a joke validated by all three will definitely work.

RTL info: Your poster seems very serious. Why this choice?

Jérémy Ferrari: Have you ever seen a comedian poster with a funny face on it?

Arnaud Tsamère: Yes, making an exaggerated face or pose is a bit cheesy. So we opted for “handsome” photos, and we completely embrace it. I even parodied it on Instagram by posting a photo with an album title, boy band style.

Jérémy Ferrari: In reality, we didn't have a precise idea for the poster. The show is difficult to describe, because it mixes our worlds. So we did a photo shoot and, while waiting to find something better, we used these images. Finally, as we liked them, we kept them.

RTL info: You go on vacation together. How is it going?

Jérémy Ferrari: Honestly, on stage as on vacation, it's the same. Our characters are caricatures of ourselves, so we don't really play. This naturalness appeals to the public, I think, because it reflects who we are in life.

RTL info: And who is the most complicated on vacation?

Arnaud Tsamère: Jérémy, without hesitation. It's not complicated, it's complex! He has neuroses that you have to accept when you are his friend. But when you're tired, it's sometimes more difficult.

Baptiste Lecaplain : Yes, he doesn't know how to stay inactive. He could never be lazy.

Jérémy Ferrari: They always make fun of me because I want them to have fun, but I become very directive to make sure they actually have fun!

RTL info: And does it work?

Baptiste Lecaplain : Yes, we have a lot of fun. It must be recognized that Jérémy is an excellent host on vacation.
