After the discovery of the body of the 15-year-old teenager in a river near Neversan autopsy and forensic analyzes had been launched. The objective? Determine the causes of death, and find out more about the circumstances of his disappearance.
Two months later, the interim public prosecutor of Strasbourg Alexandre Chevrier made the conclusions of these analyzes public. In a press release taken up by AFP, we learn that Lina would probably have died by “ mechanical strangulation ». Experts nevertheless remain cautious in their diagnosis, “ due to the state of degradation of the body and its prolonged exposure to an aquatic environment “. The only certainty: Lina did not die from drowning.
A murder probably by strangulation, with straps from a fabric bag, type tote bag
In the autopsy report revealed by the press release, the forensic doctors specify that he was “ highlighted a horizontal furrow under the chin, as well as the presence of tissue surrounding the cervical region and the base of the skull, these elements being in favor of mechanical strangulation using the discovered tissue “. A fabric that has been analyzed as coming from a tote bag.
Forensic doctors also noted “ the presence of linear cracks on the left part of the mandibular region, which may result from traumatic action in the lower part of the mandible and in the upper part of the neck. » Thus, they hypothesize that Lina’s death was the result of strangulation using the bag’s handles..
Moreover, ” it was not possible to carry out an examination or a gynecological sample » according to the press release. In his conclusions, he believes that “ to date, all elements are in favor of solitary action on the part of Samuel Gonin ». Samuel Gonin, the main suspect in this case, will however never be able to answer the many questions that arise, since he committed suicide last July.
Finally, if other investigations are still underway, in all likelihood, the judicial information will be closed by the end of the first half of 2025. And in the meantime, all our thoughts are with the young woman’s family.
