Immersion in the famous Christmas market of Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin). It is an important meeting for the dozens of artisans who offer Christmas decorations, treats and gifts.
Behind a stand, Fabien Bertani reigns over the Christmas market in Strasbourg (Bas-Rhin). For 40 years, he has been at the head of a chalet which is one of the most profitable in the city. Every evening he sells hundreds of gingerbreads, sweets and biscuits. Success was instantaneous: he achieved 50% of his annual turnover in just one month. A success for generations, for the Bertanis, the Christmas market is a family affair. To understand this success, you just need to walk through the streets: illuminated facades, hundreds of chalets where everything is sold, from decoration, toys, souvenirs, and local food. Three million visitors went there last year. It is the most imposing Christmas market in France.
Tourists sometimes come in groups. Via a tour operator, retirees paid 1,200 euros for a week in the heart of the Christmas markets. Partners hope to benefit from tourists willing to spend. Installed for a year, they put all their savings into a wooden decoration project. They spent 3000 euros on a chalet, 5000 euros to decorate it, and 3000 euros for the ideal location, at the foot of the cathedral.
