They are patient, but there is no question of giving up. For several weeks, the lives of employees of the Super U supermarket in Labastide-Saint-Pierre have changed significantly following the fire which damaged the commercial space on November 5. The team is redoubling its efforts to allow an opening during the month of January 2025, if all goes well. “The process is long and methodical because we had to empty the entire store, it’s not an easy task,” explains director Patrice Marchi. Companies follow one another to carry out a complete cleaning of the sales area, with the objective of opening as quickly as possible to limit the impact on local consumption habits. A situation that everyone would have been fine with as the holidays approach, a period that is always very symbolic in terms of commercial growth.

Tomorrow at the market

To keep up the pace, the supermarket is offering a wonderful day on Saturday December 21 with a Christmas market and activities that will comfort all generations. Carriage rides, gospel choir with the arrival of the Soulidarity Gospel Singers group, from Bressols who will perform the most beautiful Christmas carols in a warm and festive atmosphere; there should be joy. “We will offer mulled wine, hot chocolate, oysters and cold meats,” say the employees. For Patrice Marchi, this meeting is symbolic: “We are reinventing ourselves because our priority is to maintain the link with our customers. We hope that many customers will participate in this day because we unfortunately know that we will not the holidays this year.” The good chocolates made in Labastide-Saint-Pierre will be savored with a scent of hope, that of seeing an imminent opening of the store.
