If the new vehicle market is suffering, this is not the case for second-hand vehicles. This is increasing in 2024 by 3.6%. But are there regions where prices are lower than in others? Yes, if we are to believe the study carried out by Le site de l’Auto.
In 2024 in France, an average of three used cars are sold for every new car according to data from AAA Data. Which brings the number of transactions to almost 5 million between January and November this year. Over the first 11 months, the used car market increased by 3.6%. Although the majority of transactions are carried out between individuals, a significant portion is carried out by professionals (37%). And among the many players, there is Le site de l’Auto which has just published a study on the regions where used cars sold for the cheapest.
A high average price
The principle of buying a used car is that its price is lower than a new car. Logical insofar as it has already had one or more owners and it has more or less a lot of kilometers on the odometer. The study carried out by Le site de l’auto informs us that the average price of a used car in France through a professional is ultimately quite high: between €28,000 and €36,000. We also learn that there can be significant disparities depending on the region.
Auvergne Rhône Alpes, the region to avoid when buying a used car
The Auvergne Rhône Alpes region is THE region where used cars sell for the most in France when you go through a professional. It costs on average €35,596. However, the region represents 14% of transactions. Conversely, the Hauts de France region is the most affordable with an average sale price of €28,728. The Paris region is not doing so badly with an average price set at €29,346.
