First good news: the price of Internet Boxes has fallen overall. While the month of December 2023 broke all records with an average price of more than €32 for a fiber subscription, here we are 5€ cheaper a year later, i.e. a reduction in prices of more than 17%. At least that’s what our price barometer finds this month. Nevertheless, there is an Internet service provider capable of providing you an excellent connection even cheaper: RED by SFR, an alien in the landscape which wears its green color well.
A low price that atomizes the competition
HAS only €23.99/month, a fixed rate, our hero of the day succeeds:
- to propose in the RED Box 2€ cheaper than “La Boîte” by Sosh,
- to leave Bouygues Telecom’s Bbox Fit far behind,
- and to align with the brand new “Pure Fiber” offer from B&You without giving up an unlimited telephony offer and a little television! Unbeatable, we tell you, but don’t let that stop you from checking for yourself.
Yet, RED by SFR goes even further: here he is who offers the commissioning costs for Christmas, in addition to the reimbursement of the usual termination fees (up to €100). It is a nice gift of around forty euros who should finally convince you: who would refuse to migrate for free to a cheaper and more efficient Box? Especially since it is a subscription without obligation: you can therefore leave whenever you want, in the (unimaginable) event that you are disappointed.
Maximum speed and unlimited telephony
When it comes to cheap Boxes, you have to make a few concessions, starting with the flow rate. Here again RED by SFR stands out: its Box has not limited its throughput by two like some, and the modem delivers up to 1 Gb/s symmetrical like any entry-level one from historic ISPs. It’s more than comfortable for streaming in 4K without slowdown, or gaming online with 3D graphics and reduced latency times.
On the Wi-Fi side, the RED box offers Wi-Fi 5. Classic, but effective. The good surprise comes to us from the unlimited telephony plan. As always, you can find unlimited calls to landlines in France. There we sometimes find unlimited calls to 110 countries. But above all, we can also call to all mobiles in France: it’s rarer, and above all, it’s an option supposed to cost €5 more!
The case of television
If the RED Box succeeds in offering such a low price, it is because it skips the decoder, like its 1st price competitors. However, it doesn’t leave you with nothing: thanks to l’application TV de RED by SFR, available on Android and iOS, we can zap among 35 free channels and a VoD catalog from your smartphone, tablet or PC/MAC.
But the door remains open to those who cannot do without decoder: it is optional to rent for €3, and you will have access to a bouquet of 100 channels for €2 more. The choice is yours!
