The storm Dionisio is being prepared in the Gulf of Genoa, in the south of and the north of Italy. Corsica as well as the south of the country should be affected by strong gusts of wind.

Météo France has also placed around twenty departments in the extreme South-West and South-East on alert for this Friday, December 20, 2024.

A little tour and then leaves

Concretely, we expect gusts of up to 140 km/h in the south of the country. “And that could be more in Corsicawhere we expect 160 km/h in the heights”, specifies actu.fr Steven Tual, meteorologist and founder of Temps Breton.

Inland, Isère, Ardèche, Alpes-de-Haute-Provence and , the wind can reach a speed of 100 km/h. A situation which should be similar for the entire south of the country overall.

Cool temperatures for the South

Consequence of this strong wind: temperatures will be rather cool for the South, even for December 20. At most, we expect 11°C in Biscarosse, while will be satisfied with 9°C, and the mercury will not exceed 7/8°C in Corsica.

Temperatures which nevertheless remain “within seasonal norms”, notes the forecaster.

Another storm will arrive this weekend

Once Dionisio is evacuated to Italy, another storm (not yet named) should appear in the same area. And it promises to be solid.

For the night of Sunday December 22 to Monday December 23, 2024, in Corsica, Steven Tual expects “Dantesque gusts of wind, up to 200 km/h.

On the coast, we should have fairly strong winds, reaching 100 km/h. The weather is likely to be further disrupted on Monday and Tuesday, before a anticyclone gradually settles in, allowing calmer weather to set in for the end-of-year celebrations.
