Fourteen municipalities have more than 5,000 inhabitants
Of the 698 municipalities in the Côte-d’Or department, fourteen have more than 5,000 inhabitants. These are, in order, Dijon (159,941 inhabitants in 2022, or +4,851 compared to 2016), Beaune (20,233; -1,411), Chenôve (14,299; +497), Talant ( 11,986; +284), Chevigny-Saint-Sauveur (10,895; -601), Fontaine-lès-Dijon (9,032; +94), Quetigny (8,897; -700), Longvic (8,787; -6), Auxonne (7,592; -91), Saint-Apollinaire (7,517; +177) , Marsannay-la-Côte (5,440; +74), Châtillon-sur-Seine (5,404; +26), Nuits-Saint-Georges (5,263; -280) and Genlis (5,125; -225).
Focus on the five least populated municipalities
If, last year, the Côte-d’Or had four smaller municipalities from the same with 14 inhabitants (Beaunotte, Les Goulles, Menesble and Orret), now there is only one. This is Orret, with 12 inhabitants in 2022 (i.e. -4 compared to 2016). Followed by Beaunotte (15 inhabitants; -6 for 5 years), Menesble (16 inhabitants; +6), Les Goulles (17 inhabitants; -4) and Villeferry (23 inhabitants; -7).
Between 2016 and 2022: the 5 biggest population increases
The five municipalities of Côte-d’Or which, between 2016 and 2022, experienced the biggest increase in population are Dijon (+4,851 inhabitants, to reach 159,941), Neuilly-Crimolois (+805; 3,430 inhabitants), Chenôve (+497, 14,299 inhabitants), Ahuy (+479, 1,695 inhabitants) and Perrigny-lès-Dijon (+450, 2,321 inhabitants).
Evolution over 5 years: the 5 biggest drops in number of inhabitants
Beaune experienced the biggest population decline over 5 years
with -1,411 inhabitants between 2016 and 2022, to reach 20,233. Followed, over the same period: Quetigny (-700, or 8,897 inhabitants), Chevigny-Saint-Sauveur (-601, or 10,895 inhabitants), Montbard (-583, or 4,751 inhabitants) and Nuits-Saint-Georges (-280, or 5,263 inhabitants).
