This Monday, the Vienne Assize Court began the trial of six individuals, accused of the kidnapping and murder of a drug trafficker. The judges will have to determine the role and responsibility of each person in this case, report our colleagues from France 3 Regions.
The facts date back to September 6, 2020. The target of the defendants was a 37-year-old man, one of the biggest cocaine traffickers in Poitiers at the time. His network generated thousands of euros in turnover per day. He was discovered dead in front of the Arpajon maternity hospital (Essonne) in the early morning after being ambushed a few hours earlier.
Tortured to death
The meeting was made at a service station in Mignaloux-Beauvoir. The trafficker had been contacted by a dealer for a potential deal. But there, a team was waiting for him. He was kidnapped and held captive overnight. An endless night where he was tortured and beaten until his last breath. The silence of the room, during the broadcast of the photos of the body, lacerated and covered in bruises, says a lot about the ordeal suffered.
What was the purpose of this kidnapping? A ransom demand, a drug theft or a simple elimination of the competition? The court attempted to shed light on the gray areas. The verdict is expected this Friday. Among the accused, three of them, including the alleged sponsor, risk life imprisonment. The other accomplices, who transported the victim’s body to the hospital and made the vehicle disappear, will be decided on their fate later.
