The Ring Alarm (2nd generation) is a complete, affordable and easy to install solution. If the configuration of the five modules may deter less tech-savvy users, the application guides them step by step and the process is done in a jiffy. This is also due to the integration of Z-Wave which ensures the system’s reliability and responsiveness. Sending a simple push notification in the event of an intrusion can nevertheless seem a bit trivial, and the subscription to Ring Protect, which is used to trigger a call automatically, is relatively expensive.

The three opening detectors present in the security kit complement the camera and siren already tested by us. For around €350, this complete solution can protect an apartment, but will seem a little tight for a large house. The biggest drawback in our eyes comes from the need to place the siren in the same room as the camera. The price may also seem a little high, in particular compared to an equivalent and slightly less sophisticated set from Xiaomi. With its ease of installation and the still attractive design of its camera, this Netatmo pack should please anyone looking to protect their home without necessarily being geek.
