On September 21, the body of Philippine, a 19-year-old student at Paris-Dauphine University, was discovered buried in the Bois de Boulogne. A 22-year-old man, Taha O, was found in Switzerland before being handed over to French authorities, indicted and placed in pre-trial detention.
It has now been almost three months since Philippine’s bodya 19-year-old student, was discovered buried in the Bois de Boulogne, in Paris.
A suspect, Taha O., had been quickly identified and found in Switzerland before being handed over to France on November 6, then indicted and placed in pre-trial detention.
Since then, according to Le Parisien, the latter would be confessed to investigators because of the evidence that was collected against him in this case. However, he assured that he had no memory of this murder while emphasizing that it was of an act “monstrous”.
This is a new step forward in the investigation since, as our colleagues point out, Taha.O had wanted, at the beginning, to remain silent.
As a reminder, the suspect was indicted for “murder accompanied by another crime”which makes him “incur life imprisonment”, the Paris prosecutor’s office declared to AFP. He is also indicted for repeat rape.
Indeed, this 22-year-old man was known to the courts for having been sentenced to seven years in prison for rape against a 23-year-old young woman, in 2019.
At the time, the events took place in Val-d’Oise and while the victim was walking on a forest path. She then described the accused as “having a dangerous type look” and indicated that she thought she was going to die.
