After being placed in police custody two days after the fire in two agricultural sheds, a 22-year-old young man was referred to the public prosecutor’s office before being placed in pre-trial detention by the judge of freedoms and detention.

After a fire in two agricultural sheds that occurred on Sunday, December 8, late in the evening, in Andres, investigations led to the identification of a 22-year-old man, who could be the perpetrator.

First placed in police custody two days after the tragedy, the individual was referred to the prosecution as part of a judicial investigation opened on December 12.

The man was then placed in pre-trial detention by the liberty and detention judge.

He risks up to 10 years of imprisonment for acts of destruction or damage to the property of others by dangerous means. He is accused of having set fire to two agricultural sheds, one of 600 square meters and one of 800 square meters, on the night of December 8 in Andres. Hundreds of bales of flax, tons of potatoes and agricultural equipment were set ablaze.

The individual is also implicated in three other arsons committed between October 2021, September 2023 and November 2023.
