Gisèle Pelicot spoke as she left the courtroom, after the verdict in the Mazan rape trial of which she was the victim.
Gisèle Pelicot spoke at the end of the verdict hearing in the trial of her husband and the 50 men who raped and sexually assaulted her: “It is with deep emotion that I speak today in front of you. This trial was a very difficult ordeal and, at this moment, I think first and foremost of my three children, David, Caroline and Florian. I also think of my grandchildren because they are the future because it is also for them that I led this fight.”
“I also think of all the other families affected by this tragedy. Finally, I think of the unrecognized victims whose stories often remain in the shadows. I want you to know that we share the same fight,” continued Gisèle Pelicot, before expressing her deep gratitude to the people who supported her.

A member of the Pelicot family had earlier indicated to AFP that the couple’s three children, David, Caroline and Florian, were “disappointed” with the “low” sentences handed down by the five professional magistrates of the court.
