French President Emmanuel Macron arrived Thursday morning in the French archipelago of Mayotte, five days after the devastating passage of Cyclone Chido and will stay there for a few hours to see the extent of the disaster and provide support to the Mahorais, noted a journalist of the AFP.
Measures should be announced

He will carry out “an aerial reconnaissance of the affected territory before going to a hospital where he will take stock of the situation with all the actors involved” and where he will speak with the nursing staff and patients.
According to the resigning Overseas Minister, François Noël Buffet, President Emmanuel Macron could announce several emergency legislative measures for the reconstruction of Mayotte, making it possible in particular to accelerate the countries’ construction, he indicated to Le Monde .
Price blocking decreed
Furthermore, before the president’s arrival in the Mahorais territory, the government decreed the freezing of consumer prices in Mayotte. The decree appeared this Thursday morning in the official journal, after Mayotte was declared in a state of “exceptional natural calamity”, following the passage of Cyclone Chido.
This concerns products such as mineral water, food products and alcoholic or non-alcoholic drinks, batteries, dressings, basic hygiene and cleaning products as well as certain construction materials, electrical materials and tools.
