Two days after the dramatic events which occurred near the Rodin high school, in the 13th arrondissement, the Paris prosecutor’s office opened a judicial investigation for “assassination and for violence aggravated by three circumstances: with a weapon, in a meeting, and near ‘an educational establishment’.
The facts date back to Tuesday morning. During a brawl between two groups of young people, a 16-year-old individual received several fatal stab wounds. A minor was arrested on site. He is presented to an investigating judge with a view to his indictment, specifies the Paris prosecutor’s office this Thursday noon, which requires his placement in pre-trial detention.
This is, again from the same source, Stéphane S., a young man born in February 2008 in Cameroon and educated at the Rodin high school. “He had previously been placed under judicial supervision on October 16, 2024, for acts of theft committed with violence in a meeting,” notes the Paris prosecutor’s office.
The victim and himself, with other young people “remaining to be identified”, clearly maintained “a relationship of animosity punctuated by recourse to violence in different places in Paris”, concluded the prosecution.
Guest of the RMC morning show this Wednesday morning, police prefect Laurent Nuñez took stock of the clashes that occurred in 2024 in Paris and the metropolitan area. “With the clash that took place yesterday, throughout the Paris metropolitan area, we are at 98 clashes between gangs, there were 93 last year. In Paris alone, we had 25 clashes between gangs in 2024.” This year, more than 1,100 young individuals linked to the creation of these gangs were arrested and at least 370 were arrested.
