The city of Casablanca was the scene, this Wednesday morning, of a serious traffic accident which cost the lives of three people. The incident took place at the tram station “ Ibn Takhfine », located at the intersection of Oqba Ibn Nafii and Al-Hanan Al-Kabir avenues, following the violent collision of a large truck with the infrastructure.
The tragedy occurred while several passengers were in the station to buy their tickets. Under the force of the impact, three people tragically lost their lives on the spot, while another, seriously injured, was urgently evacuated to the Mohammed V hospital to receive the necessary care.
The collision, of incredible violence, caused significant material damage. Rescue teams and law enforcement officers quickly deployed to the scene to manage the situation, including organizing traffic in this area, known for its heavy traffic on a daily basis.
According to the first elements of the investigation, a failure of the truck’s braking system was the cause of this dramatic accident. The driver, unable to control his vehicle, was unable to avoid the collision.
At the same time, the company Casa Tramway » mobilized its technical teams to assess the extent of the damage caused and carry out the necessary repairs to ensure a rapid resumption of transport service. This incident disrupted the circulation of tram lines, particularly those in the direction of Sidi Moumen, causing significant delays.
The competent authorities have, for their part, opened an in-depth investigation to clarify the exact causes and precise circumstances of this tragedy which shook the metropolis. Furthermore, the rapid mobilization of emergency services and authorities made it possible to limit disruptions.
