It was a project carried out by the mayor of Ventes-Saint-Rémy in Seine-MaritimeSébastien Duclercq and which will not see the light of day.
The city stadiumwhich was to be built on the football field, did not receive a majority in the municipal council with four votes for and seven against.
A referendum in September
Receiving reluctance from certain people on the municipal council, Sébastien Duclercq had realized a referendum from September 21 to 28 to find out the residents’ opinions on this project.
“The residents responded and we received 86 votes in favor and 25 votes against“, explains the mayor.
Divers arguments
Despite this, the city council voted and the city stadium will therefore not see the light of day.
Different arguments are put forward by opponents: the management of nuisances linked to the installation of the complex, the disruption of water flow, the fire defense project not completed since 2021, etc.
« I regret that this project will not come to fruition and I am sorry for the children and the inhabitants of the town,” says Sébastien Duclercq.
