After his arrest in France, businessman Doro Gaye could be extradited to Senegal in the coming days. According to information relayed by Seneweb and taken up by Senegoextradition proceedings have been officially initiated. This Tuesday morning, the judge of the 3rd chamber of the Dakar court sent a request to this effect to the French authorities.
The approach is based on mutual legal assistance and extradition agreements existing between France and Senegal. Everything suggests that Doro Gaye will soon be handed over to Senegalese justice.
Prosecuted for a land scam estimated at 1.2 billion FCFA to the detriment of Zakiroulahi Sow, Mr. Gaye had benefited from provisional release. Taking advantage of this measure, he organized his escape while the investigation was still underway. His run ended last Monday in Paris, where he was arrested by Interpol, executing an international arrest warrant issued by the Senegalese judge.
Doro Gaye was first placed in police custody in Nanterre before being subjected to strict judicial control, including a formal ban on leaving French territory. Pending the extradition procedure to Senegal. This arrest follows his flight from Senegal last June, where he left the country via Guinea-Bissau to avoid a return to detention. Judicial cooperation between Senegal and France made this arrest possible, and the extradition procedure could extend over several months.
