The regional director of B’nai Brith, Hank Topas is calling for concrete actions from Mayor Valérie Plante to curb these anti-Semitic acts.
For his part, the Minister of Public Security, François Bonnardel condemns the actions taken against the Jewish community in western Montreal.
“Once again, completely unacceptable actions were taken against the Jewish community in Montreal as buildings were burned yesterday. We are told that the SPVM will increase its visibility in the neighborhood to reassure the population. We will let the police carry out the investigation. I repeat, these gestures have no place in Quebec,” he wrote on the social network X.
The Montreal City Police Service (SPVM) received a 911 call shortly before 3 a.m. regarding flames on Westpark Street near Roger Pilon Street.

Second attack
Emergency services received a call around 3am on Wednesday. Witnesses reported the presence of flames on rue Wespark, near rue Roger Pilon.
In this sector of Dollard-des-Ormeaux we find Congregation Beth Tikvah, the Hebrew Foundation school and the office of Federation CJA.
“The firefighters put out the fire,” explained Véronique Dubuc, spokesperson for the SPVM. “They found at least one incendiary device.” According to the spokeswoman, witnesses told police they saw at least one suspect in the area before the fire.
According to the SPVM, the damage linked to the fire is minor. In particular, there were reports of a broken window and a broken door.
No injuries have been reported and no arrests have been made at this time.
Last year, a Molotov cocktail was thrown at the same address.
