His disappearance leaves a big void in the world of French cinema. Last Thursday, October 3, Michel Blanc is dead at the age of 72. The actor died of cardiac arrest caused by anaphylactic shock in the form of
angioedema. An allergic reaction that occurred while he was going to a medical examination.
A week after his disappearance, his funeral
took place at the Saint-Eustache church in Paris. For the occasion, his partner Ramatoulaye Diop, the Splendid troupe as well as his loved ones were present.
Gérard Lanvin discusses Michel Blanc’s career as director
On Tuesday October 15, Gérard Lanvin was invited to the set of C à vous on France 5. Upset by the death of his friend, he wanted to pay homage to him while talking about his career as a director. “Michel, his first film, it was very moving because it’s true that he moved on to directing after Balasko, Jugnot… They came to directing because we didn’t make them work” he remembered.
In 1984, Michel Blanc unveiled his first film, Walk in the shadewhere he played alongside Gérard Lanvin. A feature film for which he was subsequently nominated for César for best first film. The one who played François also explained: “It was such a success that he was able to comfort himself and finally move towards the cinema he loved: that is to say a little more written, a little more author”.

Faced with Anne-Elisabeth Lemoine, Gérard Lanvin deplored
the loss of his friend. “Michel had a magnificent journey, he wanted to surprise, this time, he didn’t miss his shot” he confided, his voice trembling.
Still in shockthe 74-year-old then continued: “I’m a little moved to talk about Michel. You know, I learned of Michel’s death… well, we get used to it, we say to ourselves, it’s terrible…”.
Regarding the circumstances of the death of Michel BlancGérard Lavin has especially a worry. He thus revealed: “They tell you: ‘he died of a heart attack’. I know he had angioedema… Which is bothering me, I really hope he didn’t panic, even if it’s 10 seconds, because it’s that image that I wouldn’t want to have Michel”. Very touching confidences.
