Invited onto the set of “C l’hebdo” on Saturday, September 14, Victor Le Masne, the musical director of the Paris 2024 Olympic ceremonies, responded to the controversy over the choice of titles during Aya Nakamura’s performance. And he doesn’t mince his words.

The most listened to French-speaking singer in the world, with 7 billion streams, the Franco-Malian Aya Nakamura performed at the opening ceremony of the Olympic Games from Paris on July 26. For the occasion, the star, dressed in a tdressed in a golden dress and hair, was accompanied by the Republican Guard. She notably sang a medley of two of her hits, Pookie et Djadjaand a standard by Charles Aznavour, For me Formidablewhose centenary of birth is being celebrated this year. An absolutely magical moment which, although unanimously acclaimed afterwards, was at the heart of a huge controversy during the weeks leading up to the ceremony.

In fact, as soon as the first rumors came out of her participation in the ceremony, mentioned in the French weekly L’Express, many reactions had caused the extreme right to react. The cause? The fact that the singer can sing a song by Edith Piaf. However, on the organizers’ side, there would never have been any question of the latter singing a song by La Môme since it was Celine Dion who was supposed to close the event on Hymn to Love.
