A case that upset the actor’s family… On March 22, 2017, Abdellatif Zamzem called his wife, the singer Souad Massi, with whom he was in the process of divorcing, to tell her that she would “understand the meaning of the word ‘suffer'”. Worried, she then called for help. His daughters, aged 6 and 11 at the time, had been found unconscious in their home. Roschdy Zem’s older brother had in fact given them medication and placed them in a room where he had opened a gas bottle and poured 40 liters of combustible oil before throwing a lit cigarette in it. Abdellatif Zamzem had also been found unconscious after having slit his wrists. If the latter had been sentenced to 15 years of criminal imprisonment by the Assize Court of Bouches-du-Rhône in March 2023, it was after appealing that he was sentenced on Friday, September 6, 2024 to 11 years in prison for attempted murder. For Souad Massi and her two daughters, this verdict would represent “a relief and the beginning of their reconstruction”, as reported by their lawyer, Me Olinka Malaterre, to Var-Matin.

The defense lawyers assured our colleagues that the sentence “of course takes into account the suffering of the civil parties, but it also says that this gesture was not an act of revenge against the mother of the children, but the act of a desperate man who suffered a significant alteration of the (…)
