The 24th edition of the Arab Championship of women’s clubs (Dubai Duty Free Championship) started on Wednesday at the M’Hamid indoor hall in Marrakech, with the participation of six clubs.
The opening ceremony of this major sporting event, organized until September 15 under the supervision of the Arab Basketball Union and the Royal Moroccan Basketball Federation (FRMBB), was marked by the presentation participating clubs, namely Kawkab of Marrakech, Al Qurain (Kuwait), Al-Assima (Saudi Arabia), Cosider (Algeria), Gift Star (Somalia) and Fatima Bint Mubarak Academy (United Arab Emirates).

On this occasion, the president of the Arab Basketball Union, Ismail Al Gergawi, wished to salute, in a statement to MAP, the efforts made by the FRMBB and the Kawkab of Marrakech to host this event. basketball and ensure its full success, recalling that the annual program of the Arab Basketball Union aims to raise the level of Arab basketball and to provide support for referees and observers, men and women.

For his part, the president of the FRMBB, Mustapha Aourach, explained in a similar statement that the organization of this event is part of the Federation’s strategy which includes programs aimed at the preparation and training of clubs at the local level and the participation of all national selections in Arab, African and international events.

And to add that such events are an opportunity to measure themselves against other international schools and develop the level of national basketball.
At the end of the first day of this sporting event, Kawkab of Marrakech took over the Somalians of Gift Stars (95-40), while Cosider of Algeria beat Al Qurain (Kuwait) on the score from 105-64.
