Will FC Metz overcome the surprising USL Dunkerque team? Like every week, the Let’s Go Metz editorial team gives you its predictions.
No one could have imagined that this FC Metz – USL Dunkerque was going to be a top-of-the-table shock in Ligue 2 this season. If the Garnets are for the moment on track with their objectives, the Northerners, for their part, impress and act as a surprise team in this first half of the season. Stéphane Le Mignan remains very wary for Monday’s match. With a few absent in the squad, it is a diminished FC Metz which is preparing to host Dunkirk. Will the Garnets succeed in taking the three points and passing the northern team? Here’s what the editors of Let’s Go Metz think.
Mehdi Abirez : “Mark the occasion” “Who would have thought that Metz – Dunkirk, on a Monday evening in December, would be a real shock in this championship? The Northerners, co-leader with Paris FC before the fifteenth day, never cease to amaze. The only downside to their credit is that the glass ceiling against their direct competitors has still not been broken (defeats in Paris, Lorient, Annecy). Undefeated at home, the Garnets could then take advantage of this psychological advantage to win. As long as you show a little more efficiency in front of goal and – please – avoid those moments of confusion which cost so much… FC Metz 2-1 USL Dunkirk »
Arthur Carmier : “En bosses” “Shock at the top between FC Metz and Dunkirk, the nice surprise of this season in Ligue 2 BKT. If the Garnets have been less flamboyant in the game in recent weeks, they are continuing a great series of invincibility. I see the Messins winning 3-1in bosses, at the Saint-Symphorien stadium. A victory which would mark a first turning point for the rest of the championship. »
Valentin Lachaux : “A tight match” “Metz is preparing to host the most surprising team of the start of the season. This is certainly not a coincidence, and the northern formation risks causing problems for Garnets. However, it is difficult to imagine anything other than a victory for FC Metz, who also have something to compete with, and who will also play at home. We can expect a tough match: 3-2 for Metz. »
Gerald Russello : “With the guts” “Ligue 2 sometimes reserves great surprises and great stories. That of Dunkirk is one. A year ago, the Northerners seemed doomed to the descent into the National. On Monday, they will try to keep their place in the top three against Messins who are still looking for themselves. But the mental strength and support of the Saint Symphorien public should allow the Garnets to snatch victory, with guts and at the end of the suspense. 1-0 »
