According to the report published by Hydro-Québec at 4 p.m., more than 2,100 customers were without electricity, in many streets located in a perimeter delimited to the west by Eardley road, to the east by Samuel-Edey street, to the north by boulevard des Allumettières as well as to the south by rue Principale.

Hundreds of outages were still to be reported in a hard-hit residential area where several trees and wires collapsed on Friday afternoon, including avenues des Voyageurs and de la Colline, rue des Fondateurs and avenue du Grand- Calumet.

More than 800 Hydro Ottawa customers are also without power across the Ottawa River.

According to Environment Canada, wind gusts up to 73 km/h blew and 13 millimeters of rain fell in Ottawa on Friday, but these statistics were recorded at the international airport. The strong storm cell, which particularly affected the west of the Aylmer sector as well as the Westboro and Nepean sectors in Ottawa, was very isolated and brought precipitation and much heavier gusts, not to mention the hailstones whose diameter was in places reaches that of a golf ball.

These events occurred two weeks after two EF1 tornadoes hit southwest Ottawa.

The month of July which is ending was considerably wetter than last year in the federal capital with 142 millimeters of rain while the normal is about 90 mm.
