The Okanagan-Similkameen Regional District and the City of Osoyoos issued an evacuation alert for 732 properties in response to an out-of-control fire that reached the Canada-US border Saturday afternoon.
The fire of Lone Pine Creek – known asEagle Bluffs in the United States – burning about three miles from the border town of Osoyoos.
The evacuation alert covers the area north of the border to the intersection of Highway 97 and Highway 3, as well as west and north along Highway 3 .

A large plume of smoke was visible over Osoyoos Lake on Saturday afternoon.
While the BC Wildfire Service (BCWS) indicates that the fire of Lone Pine Creek represents only 0.0009 hectares of Canadian soil, forest fires know no borders and the Washington State Department of Natural Resources (WSDNR) estimates that the fire ofEagle Bluffs extends over more than 1,000 hectares on US soil.
THE BCWS indicates that he is in close communication with the fire-fighting services of the WSDNR to collaborate on fires near the US-Canada border.
At present, the BCWS says a wildfire officer, structure protection specialist, helicopter and heavy equipment have been deployed to monitor the wildfire.
