A Premier Tech worker was seriously injured on the afternoon of July 17 in Saint-Arsène. According to information from the Sûreté du Québec, we do not fear for his life.

“The worker was crushed in the lower limbs by the bucket of a loader while he was doing mechanics. The bucket dropped unexpectedly,” explains Isabelle Gosselin, communications manager for the Southeastern Quebec region for the CNESST. The injured person was transported to a local hospital.

Premier Tech confirms that one of its employees was injured in the performance of his duties. “Right now, all of our thoughts are obviously directed to him and his recovery,” said Premier Tech public relations manager Stéphanie Thériault.

CNESST inspectors are still on site and a ban on changing the hydraulic cylinders has been issued. No investigation by the Sûreté du Québec has been opened in this case.

This work accident occurs three weeks after the CNESST report was filed concerning the death of an 18-year-old worker from the same company in Saint-Antonin in July 2022. Inspectors Luc Lepage and Simon-Pierre D’Amours had identified two main causes: the employer had not prescribed any specific safe work method for recovering a stuck tractor and the employer had not ensured that the accessories used, some of which were homemade, had a known and sufficient capacity.
