Professor Daouda Ndiaye, head of the department of parasitology at Cheikh-Anta-Diop University in Dakar and founder of the social movement ”Actions, Seen Tawfeex Sunu Yitte”, announced on Thursday in Dakar that he had decided to present his candidacy for the presidential election of February 25, 2024.

”Many challenges await us, challenges that we must overcome together. This is why I would like to declare my candidacy for the presidential election of 2024”, launched Mr. Ndiaye during a press briefing.

The internationally renowned malaria specialist is satisfied with the record of each of Senegal’s four Heads of State since the country’s independence and says he wants to build on their legacy to “establish a sustainable development program”.

”We intend to consolidate the democratic gains that make Senegal a reference in the world”, promised Daouda Ndiaye.

”In all humility, we know that our background, our expertise and our relations at the national and international levels constitute an asset in leading our dear Senegal towards development,” he added.

Professor Daouda Ndiaye says he has devoted several months of work to the program he intends to implement if he is elected President of the Republic. “We’ll share it soon,” he promised.

Mr. Ndiaye, also head of the parasitology department at the Aristide-Le-Dantec hospital in Dakar, has received important distinctions for his work on parasitology and mycology.

He says he organized the first international course on malaria eradication in Africa last June.

The presidential candidate also says he welcomes the decision taken by Macky Sall not to be a candidate in 2024.

“We express our compassion for all Senegalese, following the events that have taken place in our country, which is a haven of peace that we must all preserve,” he said, speaking of the violence at the origin of the death of 16 to 30 people, according to various sources, between June 1 and 3.

Other personalities, including former Prime Minister Abdoul Mbaye, former ministers Mary Teuw Niane and Alioune Sarr, have declared their candidacy for the presidential election scheduled in seven and a half months.
