A system present in certain hospitals in France allows women victims of domestic violence to file a complaint from the hospital. The Barnier government wants to generalize it to all of France before the end of 2025.
Intended for women victims of domestic violence, a system available in some hospitals in France allows you to file a complaint against your attacker directly from the hospital. It simplifies the process and makes it more discreet for spouses who are often reluctant to go to the police station. In 2023, the government announced that it wanted to extend the measure to all of France, without succeeding in generalizing it.
Michel Barnier announces that he wants to achieve this before the end of 2025. An objective which seems difficult to achieve for certain associations. “On the side of investigators and on the side of the police as well as on the side of caregivers, there is a lack of resources which means that already for their traditional missions, they have difficulty doing everything”regrets Anne-Cécile Mailfert, president of the Women’s Foundation. The State had allocated nearly 185 million euros in 2023 to the police and justice to help these victims. A budget four times larger would be required according to the associations.
