The port authority of Tangier Med confirmed that the first port of the Mediterranean in terms of activity treated a total of 10.24 million standardized containers (Teus) last yearor 18.8 % more than in 2023, thanks to “the confidence and commitment of port operators and maritime companies”.
A total of 516,842 trucks crossed the port facilities in 2024, which represents a growth of 8.1 % in annual shift. This increase in traffic was particularly carried by industrial and agrifood products, which recorded an increase of 7.2 %.
Regarding passenger trafficking, A total of 3,047,387 transits was recorded in port facilities in 2024or growth of 13 % compared to 2023.
The increase in passenger traffic is notably due to the operation crossed by the Strait or Marhaba campaignwhich facilitates the transit of Moroccans every year residing abroad during the summer season. Thus, in 2024, the figures for Operation Marhaba reached 850,000 passengers and 265,000 vehicles.
In addition, the terminals of port vehicles processed a total of 600,872 vehicles throughout last yearwhich is equivalent to an increase of 4 % compared to the same period of the previous year.
-The exports of vehicles from the Renault factories in Melloussa, Somaca de Casablanca and Stellantis de Kenitra reached 368,843 units, which shows the significant evolution of the Moroccan automotive industry.

Moreover, The port of Tangier Med increased to 142 million tonnes of goods treated during 2024an increase of 16.2 % compared to the previous year.
The port of Tangier Med has established itself since its commissioning as one of the most important ports in the Mediterranean and the African continent. Significant growth is planned by 2025: according to official reports, income from the port complex should reach $ 900 million. This trend could continue in the following years with projections of 10.22 billion dirhams in 2026, the equivalent of $ 1.022 billion.
