There remained a large number of frozen logs at the end of the holidays. Rather than throwing them away, the couple of bakers du Ménil-de-Briouze (Orne), Jean-Pierre and Mélissa Bavent, decided to make a solidarity gesture by contacting the antenna of the Ferté-Macé des Restos du Coeur.

A collection was organized Monday, January 20 in the morning, allowing to give around twenty logs For eight people and worth € 34. These logs could be quickly distributed to the beneficiaries of restaurant restaurants.

Be closer to craftsmen

Marcel Novince, a volunteer who ensures the collection Products four times a week, welcomed this initiative.

Collects are often done in supermarkets, it is a huge handling and sorting work. The work with the craftsmen is interesting, but we need sufficient quantities, we have only one collection truck.

“This is our second year of installation at Menil-de-Briouze and the sales of products festive fell. The economic situation is not engaging, even with prices at 50 % the day after the holidays, sales were not there, ”admit Jean-Pierre and Mélissa Bavent.

Jacques Bavent, the father of the baker, travels the municipalities without bakery behind the wheel of his van. He adds: “We know the structure, we are confident. We have always been attentive to do the service to the population, whatever it is, it is in our family values ​​”.
