Marseille confirms its second place in the classification of French airports in the region just after Lyon and number 1 in freight. The metropolitan site recorded 11,167,485 passengers in 2024 (+ 3.4% vs 2023). At the same time, commercial aircraft movements (excluding cargo cargo) are almost stable (88,178 or 0.3%). A discrepancy which is explained by an average number of passengers per flight upwards (126 in 2024), resulting from both the use of larger capacity aircraft and an increase in filling coefficients (79.4 %), this year a little more (+ 1%).
There is an international traffic up 5% compared to 2023 with 7,780,863 passengers. A clientele that mainly comes from the Mediterranean arch, European capitals and long letters with a fixation to North America, the Indian Ocean, the Middle East. The Chinese population is also clearly advanced.
Opening of 6 new lines
Regarding cargo activity, 59,587 tonnes of aircraft freight were treated in 2024, which represents growth of + 8.1% compared to 2023. An increase resulting in a relative increase of 4.1% of movements for Cargos day (6,567 cargo movements).

The happy news is the opening of six new lines to Larnaca (Cyprus), Salerne (Italy), Funchal (Portugal), Amman (Jordan), Hurghada and Cairo (Egypt).
